Carey has a comprehensive range of exciting performance opportunities for music students. Music Performance is open to all students and may be selected as a co-curricular activity. It is the third main strand of the programs offered and is closely integrated with Music Tuition and Classroom Music.
All students having lessons on an instrument belong to at least one core ensemble. Rehearsing and performing with an ensemble gives young musicians the experience of being part of something bigger than themselves that complements and enhances the work done in instrumental music lessons. We feel strongly that the elation of a truly superb performance is something everyone should have the opportunity to experience.
Music performance groups in the Middle and Senior Schools rehearse weekly throughout the whole year. Rehearsal times for co-curricular music groups are at lunchtimes, after school and sometimes before school.
There is no additional cost to parents for students to participate in the ensemble performance program other than costs for music camps, provision of musical instruments and catering at extended rehearsals.
