What is Talent Development?

Talent Development at Carey encourages curiosity, creativity and motivation in students by fostering their skills in thinking and research and providing extension in their area of talent. Carey supports the needs of highly able students via the curriculum and differentiation in the classroom. This may be augmented through individual programs, small groups, whole class and whole school activities. Students are supported to reach their academic and personal goals.

Student talents are catered for in the following ways:

Provision is made in subjects with advanced groupings in some subject areas, such as Mathematics and a selection of extension electives.

  • Students may participate in externally run programs and competitions.
  • Subject differentiation where appropriate.
  • Enrichment within subject area.
  • Extension within subject area.
