Year 7 Drama

Drama

Common Unit

Unit Description

All students in Year 7 study Drama for one semester, as part of their core program. This allows all students to explore and experiment with dramatic activity in a specialised, safe and supportive learning environment. Students participate in practical activities to develop their confidence and performance skills.  They work with a partner to develop, memorise and present a short script excerpt to the class.  They work in a group to create an original performance which is presented to children from Carey’s ELC and Junior School.

Students are required to:

  • develop an interpretation of a text and present a performance;
  • devise a Children's Theatre Performance.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in a practical workshop presented by a theatre industry professional.

Assessment

  • Scripted Performance.
  • Devised Performance.
