Elective Unit
Unit Description
This unit builds on Year 8 Theatre; however, it is not required that students have completed Year 8 Theatre in order to select this unit.
Students explore theatre styles and develop an understanding of how they can use the conventions of these styles to interpret scripts. They participate in workshops to develop their skills as performers. Students explore the world of theatre design and experiment with stagecraft in creative and imaginative ways.
Students work with scripts as actors, directors and designers. The semester culminates in a presentation of their work to a wider audience.
Please note: Students are required to choose at least one Elective unit from Drama or Music in either Year 8 or Year 9.
Assessment
- Create and present an annotated folio of theatrical design concepts.
- Develop a performance of a script for a wider audience.
- Document your contribution to the performance.
