Schools Competition

Description

The compulsory sporting competition at Carey runs over the summer and winter seasons and is generally conducted on Saturdays, usually in the mornings.

Boys' teams compete as part of the APS competition which is made up of 11 schools:

  • Brighton Grammar School
  • Carey Baptist Grammar School
  • Caulfield Grammar School
  • Geelong College
  • Geelong Grammar School
  • Haileybury College
  • Melbourne Grammar School
  • Scotch College
  • St Kevin's College
  • Wesley College
  • Xavier College

Girls' teams compete as part of the APS/AGS competition, participating schools include:

  • Assumption College
  • Carey Baptist Grammar School
  • Caulfield Grammar School
  • Haileybury College
  • Geelong College
  • Geelong Grammar School
  • Ivanhoe Grammar School
  • Mentone Grammar School
  • Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School
  • Peninsula Grammar School
  • Wesley College
  • Yarra Valley Grammar School

All students who select a sport as their co-curricular activity must be available for selection in Carey teams and to represent the School each Saturday. It is therefore imperative that students:

  • inform local sporting clubs of their impending involvement in the APS competition;
  • ensure their availability during the week and on Saturdays from the commencement of School.

It may also be necessary for some students to restructure existing employment arrangements to meet this commitment.
