Year 1 Outdoor Education

Year 1 Outdoor Education

Course Description

The Year 1 program extends students’ foundational Outdoor Education experiences from Prep through a facilitated local journey led by the Outdoor Education Department. Developed in collaboration with Junior School staff, the program integrates applied learning opportunities that align with classroom themes and inquiry units.

Students will explore Westerfolds Park, situated along the banks of the Yarra River, where they will participate in a range of nature-based activities. A guided walking scavenger hunt will introduce students to the native animals that inhabit the area. Additional experiences include story time, art activities, outdoor free play and small group learning tasks.

The program continues to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a sense of connection with urban natural environments, while supporting students’ social development and collaborative learning in an outdoor setting.
