Year 12 students generally study:
- Units 3 and 4 of English, English as an Additional Language, English Language or Literature;
- four sequences of Units 3 and 4, in addition to English.
Year 12 students may apply to enrol for University Extension Studies but only as a sixth subject. These subjects are equivalent in content and assessment in every respect to one or more current first year studies and are at least 20% of a full-time first year university course.
Students who successfully complete a University Extension Study receive a graded increment toward their ATAR score. Depending on the student's performance the increment may be as high as that available for a VCE subject. Depending on their performance students may be allowed to proceed to second year study at a university in that discipline.
See University Extension under Other Curriculum for further details.
