Description
Carey has a comprehensive range of exciting performance opportunities for music students. Music Performance is open to all students and may be selected as a co-curricular activity. The various ensembles integrate with Instrument and Classroom Music to create a holistic and well balanced approach to musical development for each student.
All students having lessons on an instrument belong to at least one core ensemble. Rehearsing and performing with an ensemble gives young musicians the experience of being part of something bigger than themselves that complements and enhances the work undertaken in instrumental music lessons. Ensemble participation provides a strong sense of community, develops collaborative and ensemble skills, and allows students to engage in authentic performance experiences.
Music performance groups in the Middle and Senior Schools rehearse weekly throughout the year, either before or after school or at lunch time. All students in the ensembles must be having weekly lessons on their instrument/voice. Participation in the ensembles will involve extra activities such as camps, excursions, concerts and workshops.
