Learning and Talent Development
Carey recognises that every child is unique, and we provide intentional support for students with exceptional individual needs.
The Carey Learning and Talent Development team advocates for inclusive and differentiated practices in all learning programs and uses a strengths-based approach in developing supports, personalised pathways, and opportunities for students.
Learning Development
Learning Development teachers and assistants work closely with students and teachers to personalise learning and provide targeted support for student individual needs.
Learning Development staff work with identified students with specific learning needs, including students needing literacy, numeracy, and organizational support.
Identified students may also be involved in language development programs and support classes designed to teach foundation skills and strategies which can be applied across the curriculum areas.
Learning Development specialist teachers also assess students to determine the level of support required beyond the classroom. They collaborate with career practitioners and provide valuable information to support career pathway planning. Talent Development
The Talent Development specialists at Carey are committed to recognising and nurturing the unique strengths of exceptional young people, supporting them to grow and realise their full potential across academic, performance, creative, and personal domains.
We do this by:
- Working closely with teachers to design personalised learning experiences that both challenge and inspire high-potential students towards excellence
- Championing the strengths, needs, and wellbeing of high-potential and gifted learners within a supportive and inclusive environment
- Guiding students toward enriching opportunities and pathways that help them discover, develop, and extend their talents
- Coaching students to strengthen self-efficacy, self-awareness, executive functioning, and the learning habits that underpin sustained success
