Learning and Talent Development

Carey recognises that every child is unique, and we provide intentional support for those who show significant individual need. 

The Carey Learning and Talent Development team strive to advocate for inclusive learning practices to all learning programs and to acknowledge and build on the personal strengths of the students involved. 

What is Talent Development?

Talent Development at Carey is committed to identifying and nurturing exceptional young minds and supporting these learners to reach their academic and personal goals.

Student talents are addressed in the following ways:

Provision is made in subjects with advanced groupings in some subject areas, such as Mathematics and a selection of extension electives. 

  • Diverse and high-quality curricular offerings
  • Classroom differentiation to enrich, extend and enhance learning
  • Advanced groupings in some subject areas and a selection of extension electives
  • Participation in externally run workshops and competitions
  • Choice of VCE and IB
  • Career pathway planning that acknowledges and supports talent areas
  • Additional point of advocacy for high potential learners
