Commerce: Business, Law and Society
Elective Unit
Unit Description
Year 9 Commerce is a broad and contemporary introduction to the commercial world. Students explore how businesses create value, how economic choices affect people and communities, how accounting information supports sound decisions, and how laws balance rights and responsibilities.
Across the year, students are introduced to each discipline through contemporary issues, case studies, data and practical activities. Where appropriate, connections between the disciplines are highlighted, while each area also provides a clear foundation in its own key concepts and skills. Students develop the confidence to question information, compare perspectives, justify decisions and communicate practical responses to real-world problems.
