Computing
Elective Unit
Unit Description
This Computing elective introduces the technologies behind machine learning, cybersecurity, algorithms and data science. Students explore how data is represented and secured, how computer networks communicate across the internet, and how algorithms are designed and compared for efficiency. They also get a practical introduction to machine learning, learning how systems recognise patterns, make predictions and improve through training.
Students build core programming skills in Python through differentiated foundation and extension pathways.
Designed for students who are curious about how modern technology works behind the scenes and wish to build their skills in programming, problem-solving and computational thinking, this course develops technical knowledge relevant to a wide range of future study and careers.
