Unit Description
‘A word after a word after a word is power’ (Margaret Atwood). As one of the most powerful means of communication through both written and visual language and media, stories shape our understanding of the world and of our place in it. The Storytellers year-long Media and English interdisciplinary elective is all about exploring stories and how they are told. Students will have the opportunity to analyse and practise the craft of storytelling across a range of media, such as journalism, film, narrative short fiction and more. They will learn the codes and conventions of media texts as well as the skills of fiction and non-fiction writing, applying their knowledge and understanding to create a variety of stories of their own to share.
