This elective explores health, wellbeing and sporting performance from a global perspective. Students investigate how factors such as mental health, nutrition, technology, socioeconomic status, gender equity and access to resources influence health outcomes, physical activity participation and athletic performance in Australia and around the world. They examine variations in health and performance across different populations and explore initiatives that promote inclusion, equity and wellbeing. Through practical and theoretical learning, students investigate training principles, coaching strategies, skill acquisition, injury prevention and the role of sports science and technology in enhancing performance. Building on concepts from core Health and Physical Education, this elective provides a strong foundation for future study in VCE Health and Human Development, VCE Physical Education, VCE/VET Sport and Recreation, and IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science.
