Elective Unit
Unit Description
This unit is designed to foster curiosity and the talents of our young mathematicians by introducing them to recreational mathematics. Students investigate the diverse use of mathematics in magic tricks, which is also applicable to areas such as games, computer science, financial maths and geometry, and focus on their lateral and logical thinking. The ability to present their solutions in a clear and sequential manner is encouraged. They are also encouraged to use technology creatively to solve challenging problems. This unit caters for students with standard and advanced levels of mathematical achievement.
