C Change is a unique experiential learning program that prepares students to thrive, both now and into the future.
C Change takes learning beyond the traditional classroom, immersing students in real-world experiences where they can explore, create, collaborate and make a difference. Through engaging challenges and interconnected themes, students have the opportunity to ask big questions, solve complex problems and apply their learning in meaningful ways.
The program develops the skills and dispositions that are increasingly valued in education, the workplace, and life - creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, resilience, adaptability and independence. C Change helps students discover their strengths, build confidence, take ownership of their learning and develop the character and capabilities needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
It is a program that develops strong organisational, self-management, and independent learning skills alongside personal growth and real-world learning.
C Change offers engaging and transformative experiences that equips students with transferable skills for lifelong success.
Through experiential learning, including incursions, excursions, guest speakers and purposeful challenges, students are encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones and see the world from different perspectives. Experiences such as;
- Participating in wheelchair Basketball,
- Connecting with Junior School students,
- Team orienteering at Westerfolds Park,
- REACH Foundation workshops,
- Career exploration and
- The Treetops Adventure challenges
help students build empathy, collaboration, resilience and confidence. Through reflection and action, students develop the skills and mindset to embrace opportunities, navigate change and make a positive contribution to the world around them.
Built around a series of interconnected themes beginning with the letter “C”, the program is an opportunity to grow, explore and prepare for life beyond the classroom.
Students will create an Ideas Worth Sharing presentation, exploring a topic they are passionate about and communicating their ideas in a way that challenges thinking and inspires action. Through this experience, students will develop valuable research, storytelling, presentation and communication skills to share ideas that can influence others and create positive change.
Students will also have the opportunity to make a positive impact through a Community Project of their choice, such as
- Helping make dreams possible by partnering with the Eswatini Possible Dreams International team to create lasting impact through meaningful collaboration that extends well beyond fundraising.
- Becoming advocates for change by creating powerful social action campaigns through Videos for Change, raising awareness of issues that matter to them and inspiring others to take action.
- Finding their voice by producing the Carey Connects podcast, connecting with alumni and the wider Carey community to share inspiring stories, ideas and experiences.
- Building connections with people experiencing homelessness through meaningful engagement with Servants Community Housing, learning firsthand about compassion, dignity and community support.
- Bringing joy and companionship to older adults by spending time with aged care residents, sharing conversations, stories and experiences that build genuine intergenerational connections.
- Inspiring our youngest learners by working with Junior School students to create picture storybooks that explore issues they care about, empowering younger voices through creativity and storytelling.
These projects are designed to help students discover that positive change begins with small actions, meaningful relationships and the courage to make a difference.
The underlying aim of the program is for students to:
- C Change in themselves through their personal growth and development;
- C Change in each other through their social interactions;
- C Change in the community through their positive actions.
Exploring the fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions.
