Unit Description
Year 9 Science consolidates and extends the understandings and skills developed in Year 8 with increased emphasis on critical and creative thinking, experimental design and science communication. The course is taught for the duration of Year 9 and covers a broad and balanced science curriculum.
Students explore living systems and processes that maintain homeostasis in the human body. Students also consider common chemical reactions through research and experimental work. They continue to explore the important concepts of Law of Conservation Energy, Waves, visible light as part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and how it interacts with objects such as mirrors and lenses, and learn about how sound works. They also investigate Global Systems.
