This unit challenges the student to examine an environment and create a product to enhance it. This includes following a sequence of design, which allows the student to communicate and plan ideas, estimate quantities and costs and analyse a range of timbers.
What is the role of the design process?
What is the relationship between designer and client?
How do the characteristics and properties of wood influence my design?
Why do we evaluate our production work on completion?
Investigating and Designing: the production of a portfolio, which plans the manufacture of a product.
Production: a finished product that applies joinery, fixtures and finishes.
Analysing and Evaluating: a synopsis of initial ideas against a final outcome.
