Year 7 Indonesian or equivalent.
Unit Description
Semester 1 consolidates linguistic elements learned in Year 7, while building skills in the five macro-areas of reading, writing, viewing, speaking and listening. Topics covered include family, home and holidaying in Indonesia. Language functions include describing family and home, expressing opinions as well as likes and dislikes, describing holidays and discussing preferences.
In Semester 2, students are introduced to shopping and bargaining for goods and ceremonies and celebrations. Further grammatical elements are introduced including elements of informal Language, time phrases, expression of past and future, accepting and declining invitations and expressing opinions.
An introduction to the regional diversity of Indonesia is both explicit and implicit in the study of the Language.
Students undertake integrated performance tasks in which they independently and collaboratively read, write, listen to and express in spoken language different texts and scripts.
