Course Description
Bridging EAL focuses on the language skills needed by students for whom English is an additional language, and should be chosen with either the core subject 10 English as an Additional Language or 10 English. The study is made up of two units at Units 1 and 2 only. It is an intensive and explicit study of English language required in the VCE and IB, as well as for a range of other purposes.
Students will develop knowledge and skills in English for academic and everyday purposes and study of issues in the media, as well as skill building in grammar and expression, speaking, listening, reading, viewing, writing and thinking. They will engage with a range of increasingly complex spoken, print, multimodal and digital texts and will work individually and collaboratively to create their own texts for different audiences, purposes and contexts.
