Year 8 Chinese Advanced Unit Description
Year 9 Chinese Advanced is offered to students who would like to continue to develop their language proficiency although they already have Chinese language learning (Bilingual schools, in country study, EAL students). The course will be more focused in the character writing, reading, listening and writing skills. It will also broaden their culture understanding about traditional and contemporary China.
In this unit students:
- deepen their understanding of cultural elements, especially about family and relationships, famous people, travel and language learning, Chinese culinary wellbeing, and smart living and wellness;
- develop their ability to read and write short to medium-length texts, including personal narratives, descriptions, and opinion pieces;
- participate in oral presentations and collaborative writing tasks to enhance language overall;
- strengthen their cultural awareness through texts, videos, research tasks, and class discussions;
- engage in a wide range of learning activities including language games, role plays, viewing tasks, structured writing tasks, and poster projects.
